Special weekends and events of Wrocław 2016

The framework of the European Capital of Culture celebrations in Wrocław are three big projects: Bridge Builders, Spirits of Wrocław, Flow. The program gives opportunity to see, touch and get involved in the most interesting current cultural activities.

Wroclaw is one of the oldest and most attractive Polish cities, situated on the Oder River with 12 islands and 112 bridges including the Grunwald Bridge built in 1910, which used to be the longest suspension bridge in Europe.

Singing Europe, special tailor made program for choirs

Singing Europe 2016 is a meeting of several dozen choirs from across different countries and presentation of great works of opera, oratorio and a capella programs in cooperation with experienced and recognized artists. The participants of the final edition will be young amateur singers, as well as the stars of the world music scene.

Day 1; 19/07/2016

Arrival to Wroclaw and transfer to local choir society.

Day 1-4; 19-22/07/2016

Program organised by local society, on the last day – transfer to Wroclaw.

Day 5; 23/07/2016

Rehearsal and preparation before evening concert.

Day 6; 24/07/2016 - Extension visits of Swidnica and Ksiaz Castle

On arrival visit to the Church of Peace in Swidnica, which is on the UNESCO list since 2001. The Churches of Peace, the largest timber framed religious buildings in Europe, were built in the former Silesia in the mid-17th century, amid the religious strife that followed the Peace of Westphalia. Concert in the interiors of the Church. In the afternoon visit Ksiaz Castle one of the biggest [400 rooms!] and the most impressive castle beautifully located on the hill and surrounded by lush woods. Later “knight style dinner” and return to Wroclaw.

Day 7; 25/07/2016 - City tour of Wroclaw

Half day visit to Wroclaw together with river cruise. Wroclaw is one of the oldest and most attractive Polish cities, situated on the Oder River with 12 islands and 112 bridges. The heart of the city is Rynek Square with the exposing Late Gothic town hall which ranks among the finest town halls in Europe. The gem of Baroque is Leopoldinum Hall at the University building which houses the statues of Habsburg emperors, paintings and frescoes. On the other side of the Oder River there is a former island of Ostrow

  • 19-22 of July 2016 Choir is invited by local society of Lower Silesia, to give a concert and to have a workshop with local band)
  • 23 of July 2016 Final concert will be held on the Wroclaw Stadium
